I am delighted to welcome both the new and continuing students and staff members to Saint Augustine University of Tanzania for this academic year 2015/2016. We are thrilled that you have chosen our University as your home for the next one year and others for up to four years. We wish to assure our students that they will find St. Augustine a wonderful place for learning with the help of experienced and highly committed members of academic and administrative staff. Our team of staff come from all the corners of the world. We are all set to assist you get quality education, improved learning, enhanced research and community service experiences. In this regard, I urge both new and continuing students to take full use of the opportunities provided by the university in order to achieve your goals.
In this academic year (2015/2016) SAUT will provide you with strengthened teaching and learning facilities such as the provision of WI-FI which currently covers about 60% of the Campus, increased e-learning and online resources in the Mario Mgulunde Learning Resource Centre, improved laboratories for the Faculty of Engineering and the Departments of Mass Communications, and Public Relations and Advertising, and enhanced students learning by improved customer service in all our administrative units. Our strategy in teaching and learning is student-centred, thus we have a great respect of what we want our students to learn and become in life. We are conscious of man’s orientation towards God and neighbor that is why we foster an ethical and service-oriented approach in our academic and professional training, our goal is to prepare persons well equipped with knowledge, skills and competences to contribute to the ideals of social, economic and political development.
As a secular and private institution of higher learning owned and managed by the Catholic Church, SAUT is dedicated to St. Augustine of Hippo (345-430 A.D), with the Motto “Building the City of God”. We aim at inculcating in our learners values of civic and social learning, such as acquisition of national identity, cultural norms, political growth and responsible citizenship.
